Jo Koy

Jo Koy began standup comedy in 1996 at a comedy club in Las Vegas. Once he set foot on the stage, the bright lights of Las Vegas allowed Koy to see his true passion... a love for comedy and making people laugh. After learning the comedic ropes, and experiencing growing pains on the stage, Koy moved from open mic nights to becoming one of the most requested comedians at Catch a Rising Star, a signature show at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino.

Fans were impressed with Koy’s high energy and physical emotion exuding from the stage every time he performed and they kept coming back for more. He made everyone laugh. A talent coordinator from Los Angeles spotted Koy and landed him his first big break, a television appearance on the nationally syndicated show BET Comic View. He continued to work hard at his craft and his determination paid off when he performed and won at the famous Showtime at the Apollo.

Koy also has done his part supporting American troops overseas. Koy has performed in front of soldiers in Japan, Korea and Okinawa during the USO Tour. It was an experience that the troops and Koy will never forget.

Through the years, Koy has earned the respects of many great comedians in the industry and has built a loyal fan base.

Koy’s credits now include opening for headliner acts of Dave Chappelle (Chappelle Show), Mike Epps (Next Friday), Snoop Doggy Dogg and most recently Robin Williams. He is also proud to say that he is one of a few dozen comics that performed at the Montreal Comedy Festival.

Viewers can now catch Jo Koy on VH1’s “I Love the 90’s Part Deux” and Comedy Central’s Premium Blend.

Currently, he is a regular comedian for the world famous Laugh Factory, tours the national college circuit and gets invited to perform in comedy clubs across the country.

He continues to enjoy his years in stand-up comedy and looks forward to making more people in the world laugh.
